In the picture there is a couple. A young male sits nude on a rock with his arms wrapped around his legs and his head resting on his knees, eyes closed and a young woman, not wrapped around herself but open to the world.
The advertising picture is an icon for the painting "Jeune Homme nu assis au bord de la mer" by Flandrin.
The gestural and proxemic codes create an anthitesys between the man and the woman that are symbols for openess and strengh and for introversion and weakness.
The triangles formed by their legs send an incounscious message of stability and balance, in which the woman is allegory of dynamism, the male of fixedness and closure.
So, the message sent by the advertising picture is that the YSL woman is full of energy, dynamic, lover of life and strong.
